7cb1d79195 In the midst of an elaborate conspiracy, an expert negotiator is driven to the edge when he's framed for the murder of his partner,wellembezzling money from his department's pension fund. His only chance to prove his innocence is to take hostages himself, acquire the services of another expert negotiator, and find out who's running the conspiracy before it's too late. Samuel L. Jackson is Danny Roman, a hot shot police negotiator and the man of the hour in the police department. One day he wakes up to find that he has been set up, and now the police are after him. In his panic, he takes control of a building. Knowing all the rules of negotiation, Danny asks for the only negotiator he can trust - Chris Sabian (Kevin Spacey). When the police get itchy trigger fingers and want to go into the building shooting, Sabian finds that the only way he can save Danny Roman's life is to go in there and become his partner. Now the police have to deal with both of them. OK i had recently seen the negotiator and its almost a 10 year old movie,but needless to say i just watched it recently and i was blown away.I'm a big fan of Kevin Spacey,i believe is one of the greatest actors out there.and Samuel L Jackson is great in this too,we can all forgive him for;snakes on a plane.this is more than a good cop bad cop movie,it involves police corruption,Samuel L Jackson plays a good cop,a veteran whose partner is murdered,he gets set upa patsy and…,well no way am i going to spoil this.you must watch this to find out what happens.you see both Samuel L Jackson and Kevin Spacey are both police negotiators,and yes both are good guys.also actor JT Walshes last movie,he died when this was released,JT Walsh was mostly knownhis role in the Robin Williams comedy/drama good morning Vietnamthe Sargent major who clashed with Robin Williams character.but i cant say enough about the negotiator,i don't know why i never saw it before but there's that old saying better late than never. be warned it is a long movie but its not boring.its extremely enjoyable and well made.and its not a typical good cop/bad cop movie.I'm going to give the negotiator 10 out of 10,i would love to go higher but its only 1 to 10. Kevin Spacey and Samuel L. Jackson are great acting talents but even they cannot bring The Negotiator script and story out of the average category. This is not to say this film has no redeeming moments but there is one unbelievable situation after another. For instance, Spacey's character must phone Jackson by a certain time or hostages lives will be at stake. Spacey, traveling frantically across town,(Chicago) finally realizes he can use his cell phone AFTER he arrives. In another scene, Jackson is yelling directions out of an open window 20 storeys in the air and while a police helicopter hovers with in a few feet. Who is going to be able to hear him folks??? This is not a bomb by any means, but it could have been so much better. I guess if you,ve seen just about everything you want to see in the theatre and are in the mood for a cop type drama, rent it. The one character that is memorable is the late J.T. WalshTerance Neibaum, one of the bad guys. The Negotiator falls short of greatness by a country mile; it's too chatty for its own good sometimes. But it's still a solid shoot-'em-up.
